" Tho action of tho Gns Company in digging «t> Papanui Road at intervals to caulk its,gas-mains was complained of last night by Councillor A: S. Taylor, who said that no matter how carefully the road was finished'off there must be u series of bumps or hollows, making the work of the council farcical. The roads would have to bo relaid, .regrefkd and macadamised. He wished to know whether the Gas Company would have to-pay for the mere filling' in of the holes or the greater work necessitated to perfect tho road. Councillor H. J. Otley said that the company .had always paid any account for repairs, and he did not see how the council could complain, since f it had been complaining a little while ago about the leakage of gas.
