THE RUSSIAN THRUST. PETROGRAD, .Tune 19—The Russians have taken Czernowitz. North of Buczacz an Austrian attack was repulsed and in the Styr region near Svidniki an attack was repulsed in disorder. BATTLES FOR VERDUN. PARIS, June 19.—The Germans with liquid fire attacked the new French positions on the Mort Homme, but the French maintained their gains. Attacks on the trenches north of ' Thiaumont were also repulsed. THE WESTERN FRONT. LONDON, June 19.—The British front has been quiet. The French south of the Somme drove off an enemy reconnaissance, and in the Argonne were successful. THE ITALIAN CAMPAIGN. • ROME, June 19.—The Italians made progress in the Val Sugana and drove back enemy attacks between Mount Lemerle and Magnasoschi. Between the Frenzela Valley and Marcesina the Italians continued to advance. TO HONOUR LORD KITCHENER. LONDON, June 19.—When the House of Commons re-as-sembles Mr Asquith will move that a monument be erected in Lord Kitchener’s honour.
