PRAISE FOR WAR LOANS. WAR PROFITS AND INCOME TAX DISCUSSED. On Saturday morning the Budget was the subject ol’ much discussion in the city and reporters endeavoured to gain an expression of opinion from politicians, financial men and the rank and file of the citizens on its main provisions. Many of those qualified to speak asked for more time to consider the proposals, but very few had not lord an opportunity to scan its main provisions. It would be hard to say whethci there was the greater satisfaction at tlie inclusion <»f local war loans or at the proposal to tax war profits to the extent of -13 per cent. Generally, however, there was a disposition to regard the local loan as the more earnest method of helping the Mother Country, and to regard the war tax as an internal adjustment which might simply Ire passed on to the consumer.
