MOTOR-CYCLE ACCIDENT.

♦■ COLLISION ON RACING TRACK. RIDERS ESCAPE UNINJURED. In the last lap of the last race at the patriotic motor sports at Plumpton on Saturday the crowd was electrified by a nasty spill that fortunately ended in nothing more than a severe shaking for the riders concerned. The turn into tho straight is a very awkward one, especially when negotiated at a high speed and to make matters worse the dust flew in clouds, obscuring succeeding riders' view. J. H. Robinson (Timaru) hit the fence on the turn, wobbled and fell in a cloud of dust. H. R. Crawley (Carterton) was following at a high speed, and owing to the dust did not see the spill. He wont right over Robinson's cycle and was flung high in the air, landing on his head. The helmet undoubtedly saved his life. It was crushed in by the impact of the fall, but saved the rider's skull—a marvellous escape. Both men received an ovation on walking back. The cycles were slightly damaged.
