AMUSEMENTS.

HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. There was a large attendance at His Majesty's Theatre last night, when_the programme" headed by "The Awakening" was again presented.. This picture, with the supporting films, will be shown at a matinee performance this afternoon, and will be screened finally to-night. ' , ~ On Monday night "My Old Dutch/ which is described as the biggest picture success in England will be shown for the .first time in Christchurch. It is a picture plav of Albert Chevaliers famous song of that name, and tho film features Chevalier with Florence Turner as the "old dutch." In the piece Chevalier moves the onlooker to laughter or tears as he wills, for humour and pathos are cleverly interwoven. The plan is at The Bristol.

EVERYBODY'S THEATRE. There were large attendances at Everybody's Theatre yesterday, when "The First Commandment and the other films on the programme were received with much approval. The same pictures will be shown to-day. The leading attraction for next week will be a. Lubin four-reel picture entitled "Tho Valley of Lost Hope, starring the American actor, Roniaine Feilding, in a film adaptation of Shannon Fife's; powerful story of the California!! mining days. The critic of the "Moving Picture "World" says of this picture: "All through the play the settings are very fine. They will win admira.tion everywhere: Deserving of great praise is the head-on collision between* two trains." There will be a well varied list of new supporting subjects. SYDENHAM THEATRE. "The First Commandment" was again screened at the. Sydenham Theatre last evening. With the other films on the programme k will be repeated to-night On Monday the principal item will be a coster drama entitled "My Old Dutch," with Albert Chevalier and Florence Turner in the leading roles. GLOBE THEATRE. "Trapped by the Flames" and the supporting films were shown pgain at the Globe Theatre yesterday. The programme will be repeated for tbe last time to-day. GRAND THEATRE. Tile Grand Theatre was well patronised yesterday, when the sporting drama,' "The Second String," aigain won approval. With the other films, this picture will bo shoWn again today. QUEEN'S THEATRE. "Chinese Vengeance" and the supporting films on the programme wore screened again at the Queen's Theatre yesterday. They will be shewn for the last time to-day. STANLEY RANKIN'S RECITAL. Mr Stanley Rankin, assisted by leadr ing local artists, will give. a. song and monologue recital at the Choral Hall on Thursday, March 2. The proceeds will be in aid of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board's section of the Public Service Group in the Queen election. An interesting programme is being prepared. Mr Rankin's monologues have won praise for him, in many parts of the Dominion, particularly in Wellington.
