SCIENCE AND ART.

[Per Preps Association.] WELLINGTON, January 28. The first meeting of the Board of Science and Art, constituted under the Science and Art Act of 1913. was held at the Museum to-night. The Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon G. W. Russell), who presided, said that various causes had delayed the first meeting. The board was to establish and control the Dominion Museum, Dominion Art Gallery and Dominion Library, acquire collections and documents and make regulations. It would have to determine the future site or sites of the institutions. After discussion, the board decided to recommend that, the Dominion Museum, Art Gallery and Library should be placed on the sit© of the present Dominion Museum. Members examined some plans of the proposed buildings. Mr Russell explained that his idea was to erect a block close to Sydtiey Street. Three or four other blocks could he constructed as money became available, courts being left between them. The frontage opposite Parliamentary Buildings would be continuous and uniform. , A committee, consisting of i>r Allen Thomson. Professor Benham and Messrs C. A. Ewen and G. M. Thomson, was appointed to prepare a report regarding details of the scheme.
