IN ARTOIS. FRENCH RE-OCCUPit ING LOST POSTS. The High Commissioner reports: — LONDON, January 27. On the road between Neuvillei Si Vaast and La Folie Farm the French have continued to reoccupy progressively the .observation posts in craters that the eaiemy had previously taken, finding, numerous German corpses and a mitrailleuse, and taking some prisoners. A German communique states s—-The enemy is bombarding our positions. Monitors are bombarding Westende ineffectively. The enemy subjected Lens to heavy fire and there were vigorous artillery duels in the Argonne. BRUSSELS REFUSES. WILL NOT PAY FINE. AMSTERDAM, January 27. The “Echo de Beige” states that the Citv of Brussels refuses to pay the fine of half a million marks imposed by the Germans for tho killing of Cols, the man who betrayed Nurse Cavell to the German authorities.
