NORTHERN BUILDING AND LOAN SOCIETY.

ANNUAL MEETING. Tlie thirty-third annual mealing of ■<' the Northern Building-and Loa.n Society (Permanent) was held at. Kaiapoi last - evening. The-Hon 11. Moore, M.L.0., presided. " :.., ;*_,';.'"QlL. 1 L The report showed. that - the year's operations had been very successfill and that the profit would allow each investor's account.to he credited with.the maximum interest. The hinds had been judiciously invested and ■no losses or depreciation of assets had token- place. The balance-sheet showed a" "■profit out Y the year of £4Ol Ids 3d. The report was adopted. ',■" . Messrs R. M. Wright and T. It. Leithead were re-elected directors, and Messrs R. M. Wright and A. T. Clark were reappointed auditors. Votes of thanks were passed to the directors, tho manager and the auditors. At a subsequent meeting of tha directors, the Hon R. Moore was elected chairman for the thirty-third time. Mr T. R. Leithead was elected deputy< chairman. The resignation of Mr J. LWilson, who had been manager of the society since its inception, was accepted with regret. Mr "Wilson was elected a director to fill the vacancy caused by the departure for the -front of Mr L. C. Brighting. Many appreciative references were made to tha services rendered to the society by Mr "Wilson.
