Now we want to show you the reason why the Hupp is efficient. A simple list of the various tests to which the Hupp is submitted, must impress you with the painstaking methods of manufacture. " 1. Dynamometer block test—running in motor. 2.' Dynamometer chassis test—determining H.P. 3. Pistons balanced one against the other to give exact y weight. i. Cylinders tested under high-water pressure to assure air tightness. ■* 6. Gasoline tank and radiator air-pressure test. 6. Crank shaft and fly-wheel balanced on knife edges for accurate weight. 7. Scleroscope test to determine the hardness, toughness, and strength of crank-shaft, all gears, drive shafts, connecting rods, cam shaft, and other heattreated parts. 8. Ames Gauge test to determine diameters of pistons depth of groove for piston rings and other piston dimensions. Hupmobile pistons are accurate to l-2000th of an inch. f 9. Brown and Sharp Dial Indicator test for determining crank-shaft bearing dimensions, down- to • 1.2000 th of an inch. 10.- All parts tested for dimensions, weight, strength etc., after being cast or forged. ° ' 11. All parts tested for accuracy in size down to 1-2000th of an inch aftei machine operations. 12. All parts are tested for wearing quality after each assembly or sub-assembly. * " 13.
