Holland also wrote accepting poei , tions as vice-commodores. 1 '' The' Canterbury Centre of' the I*wr * Zealand Swimming Association wrote informing the committee that a deputation would be received':on Monday, l The secretary reported that tho financial support received to date was beyond expectation and it was •*P* 1 ed~ that a large sum would be realised as the outcome of the sacrifice of the competitors in foregoing their pnre/ money so that it could be handed to] the Patriotic Fund. . 1 Several applications were received from side show proprietors, and in tLs majority of cases satisfactory arrangements were arrived at. ! The secretary reported that there was every possibility of an intercolonial liner beinsx utilised" as the flagship on, Now Year's Day, but in the event of j the arrangements being up36t the Lyttelton Harbour Board had offered to place the Canterbury at the committee's disposal. : Mr M. J. Miller stated that the ar-j rangements for the water displav wer* proceeding satisfactorily, and Mr B. Rhind reported that the ferry launch) proprietors had decided to donate to! the committee the whole of the j proceeds from the special trip to b» ruti| in the evening. j Mr E. R. Curtis reported that the' Lyttelton Gymnasium Swimming Club) had their programme arranged, and' the use of the ferry dock for the respective events was practically assured. 1 Officials were, elected, the committee being increased so as to guarantee, efficiency in the control of the various \ sections. I Representatives of the various sports bodies stated that lasge entries could. be looked forward to.
