LICENSING COMMITTEES.

CHRISTCHURCH. The quarterly meeting of the Christchurch Licensing Committee was held at the Magistrate's Court yesterday; present— M r H. W. Bishop, S.M. (chairman). Dr Thacker, M.P., and Messrs C. E. Salter, J. Pethcrick and K. Mathieson. The following transfers were confirmed:—His Lordship’s Hotel. Margaret Lahrnnn to Fla ward Cuthbert M’CuHough : Rotherfield Hotel. Janies Geddts to Edmund Lionel Barnes. An application was made for the transfer of the license of the Wellington Hotel from Thomas Henry Cahill to Frederick Feltham (Mr F- K. Hunt). The chairman said that the Bench was not prepared to confirm the temporary transfer at present. Mr" Hunt said the applicant had received a Magistrate’s certificate of fitness.

The chairman advised Mr r Hunt not to press flic matter. The committee offered four weeks in which to got another licensee. Mr Hunt proceeded to refer to the police report, upon which, lie understood, the committee’s decision was based.

The chairman said he did not want to discuss the report with Mr Hunt. It would do his client no good. An adjournment would he granted till Mondnv week, at noon, as Mr Hunt insisted on his legal rights.
