OPENING OF BOATING SEASON. A meeting of delegates from Towing clubs appointed in connection with the arrangements for the opening of the boating season, met last night at the Canterbury Eowing Club's boathouse. Mr F. D. Kesteven presided, and there wer-a present Messrs W. Evans, W. Duggan, V. D. Hewor, H. Langton, H. Berry and H. Fabling. Th© final arrangements for the opening day on Saturday were discussed. - Mr and Mrs H. Ayers wrote regretting their inability to act as judges of the best decorated boats. Mr and Mrs A. E. Craddock were appointed. It was reported that the 'services of the Tramway Band had been obtained. It wa s decided that the procession should start from opposite the Union Rowing Club boatsbed, and go downstream as far as the Stanmore bridge and return in double file. The following entries have been received for the opening day four-oared race:— H. Bliss, W. M. Stewart. J, Wright, W. Jonoa; J. D. Davies, F. Adkins, F. Booth, D. Barrett; A. C. Pinwell, F. Ryan. A. Wilson, C. T. Mosley; V. D. Hewer, C. C. Moßley, V. Tims, P. Hill; H. Adkins, G. Watson, J. Elstob, C. Gordon; F. Agassis, H. Gibson, A. C. Parson, J. Harvey; F. Williamson, H. Taylor, M. J. Guthrie, H. Dyer; A. S. Whitfield, A. Fox, G. Wilson, R. Mann. The following order of procession was decided by lot:—Canterbury 1, Union 2, Avon 3.

It was stated that a small charge would bo made for afternoon tea, which would be provided at the boathouscs. It was decided that the value of all un-ri.ii-"od irnphies should be devoted to the Patriotio ..Fund. One of the novelties will be the Trentham crew; consisting of the following well-known oarsmen, who aro members of the Eighth Reinforcements:—A. W. Whitfield, G. IV. Wilson, A. Fox and R. J. Mann. The crew has sent a request to have a boat in the procession, and they state tb,«y will row in their khaki. They also intend to take part in the four-oar race later in the afternoon.
