HOSPITAL BOARD.

YESTERDAY'S MEETING. Tho fVorth Canterbury Hospital and Charitable Aid Board met yesterday; present—Mr F. Horrell (chairman), Mosdaraes Christie and Wilson, Hon R. Mooro and Messrs T. D. Boag, H. B. Sorenson, W. W. Tanner, G. Scott. W. H. Cooper, J'. D. Hall, It. Evans, 0. Bradley, R. M'MiUan, W. P. Spencer, H. J. Otley, J. Ashley and J. H. Daris. FINANCE COMMITTEE.

The Finance , Committee reported that the board was in debit £2496 18s tid, but £5509 Is lid subsidy was due and also butions for year ending March,3l. The plans for tho proposed home for tubqrcnlosis had been passed by Dr Valintine. The committee recommended that the board should grant £4O to the Cheviot and "Wairewa County Councils' towards their medical guarantee fundsThe board was recommended to provide £3OO for tho planting of trees at tho Bottle Lake Hospital. The financial ieqiurements for 1915-16 would mean a decrease of £SOOO in the levy on local bodies as compared with 1 1914.-15. Tho proposals on account of capital included the necessary amount to supplement the funds. already in hand for the erection of chronic wards, and also for the extension in the laundry buildings to provide the necessary accommodation for sterilising clothing aud bedding in connection with infectious .'uscsses.

Tho report was adopted. HOSPITAL COMMITTEE.

Tho Hospital Committee recommended that £SO should be offered to the Domains Board for the removal of the thorn fence at Hagley Park opposite the Boards office and the substitution of an iron pipe fence. With reference to the application from tbo Arthur's Pass tunnel workers for free beds in the hospital, accompanied by an offer to contribute £6 per month, tho boa.rd was recommended to offer tho use of lour beds for one year, in consideration of a monthly payment of £Q, provided that satisfactory guarantee of tho payment of tho money was forthcoming. The report was adopted. ' OUTSIDE TUBERCULOSIS PATIENTS. The Hospital Committee reported that in response to tho Board's offer to provide accommodation for cases of tuberculosis from other districts, provided that eueh districts paid. the ■ cost of the erection of shelters, after entering into a definite agreement, the Grey Hospital and Charitable Aid Board had authorised the erection of two shelters, and also the Wairau Hospital ana Charitable Aid Board. The Westland Beard had suggested certain alterations in the form of agreement which could not be accepted by tho committee. The Inspector-General of Hospitals, etc., who was visiting the Coast, had taken the documents with him, when he would have an opportunity of discussing matters with the board in question. -, The report was adopted.
