BRITISH AND FOREIGN BIBLE SOCIETY.
According to a statement issued by the -New Zealand agent of the British and Foreign Bibie oociety the sum of &J.45U ivas collected in the Dominion last year and was remitted to the head oilice. The amoua-s contributed by the different .auxiliaries were as fol]ow : —*s'orth Auckland £ll, Auckland £2OO, South Auckland £63, Bay of Plenty £3l, Tara'naki £l3o, Wanganui £2OO, Manawatu £79, Poverty Bay £96, Hciwke's Bay £225, Wairarapa £B2. Wellington £SO, Nelson £9, Westland £l6? North Canterbury and Cliriitchurch £125, South Canterbury £llß, miscellaneous £9. At the present time the society is particularly busy in supplying belligerents of all nations with suitably bound copies of the Scrip.ures. or a. portion of them, each in their own language. In Jap in the hold the Bible has gained upon the leaders is lemarkable, and the Premier, Count Okuma, has invited the World Sunday School Convention to hold its conference at Tokio in 1916. When asked what led him to -ulopt this course he rvnlied: "I have m mind the establishment of Sunday schools throughout the Empire, so that all, both old and voting, may snend their Sundays m studying the Bible."
