LAWN TENNIS.
CANTERBURY - ASSOCIATION
At, a meeting of the Canterbury Lawn Tenuis Association, held on Monday evening, it was decided to apply to the United Lawn Tennis and Bowling Club for the use of its courts; on Saturday, March 27, when it is proposed to hold a lawn tennis carnival in aid of tho Belgian Relief Fund. A strong committee was sot up to maho all arrangements.
SUB-DISTRICT COMPETITION.
PREBBLETON x. HALSWELL. Playing in the Ilicearton sub-district* cams petition on Saturday, Prebbleton defeated Ha.swell by 53 games. The following are the scores, Prebbleton players being mentioned first: Combined doubles —Miss Legs and Haynea beat Miss Combor and Rickerby, O-o: Mias M’Meekin and Holland beat Miss Beattif and Gardener, 6-3;. Miss Rigby and Co!si man beat Mias Green and M.oyne, 6-3; MHsij M’Nally and M’Gill beat. Mies Merritt and Morcer, 6-3. Ladies’ doubles Misses Legg and M'Mleekin beat Misses Comber and Beattie, 6-5; Misses Rigby and M'NtiUy beat Misee* Green and Merritt, 6-5. Ladies' singles—Miss Legg beat Misl Comber, 6-4; Miss M’Mleekin beat Misj Beattie, 6-1; Miss Rigby boat Miss Green* 6-2; Miss M’Nally beat "Miss Merritt, 8-1. Men's singles—Haynes beat Rickerby, 9-1;. Morland beat Gardener, 3-6; Coleman lost tc» Mbvna, 8-9; McGill beat Mercer 9-3. Men’s double*—Haynes and Morland bead Rickerby end Gardener, 9-2; Coleman and M’Gill boat Moyna and Mercer, 9-7. Totals—Prebbleton 113 games, Haltwoll 60* MOUNT SOMERS v. SPRJNCFBURN. A lawn tennis match was plfyed on thst Mount Somers court on Saturday between teams representing .the Mount Somers andl Springbum Clu'bs, the former winning by 105 games to 96.
