RANGIORA MILITARY FAIR.
£550 FORWARDED TO RED CROSS FUND.
The committee that managed the military fair held at Ra.ngiora in aid of the Red Cross Fund held its final meeting last evening, the Mayor. Air C-. I. Jennings, presiding. Tlie balance-sheet, submitted by the treasurer (Mrs W. E. Barton), showed receipts totalling £584 9s 8d; but, as somo of the stallholders had paid accounts. in connection with their stalls and handed in the net proceeds, it was estimated that the actual receipts wore considerably over £6OO. The expenditure was estimated at £45, leaving a surplus of about £560 to bo devoted: to the fund.
The balance-sheet was adopted, and the Alayor and Messrs W. E. Barton and W. M’Gruer were appointed a subcommittee, with a-uthonty to transmit £550 at once to England for the purposes of Red Cross work.
The success of tho fair, the result of a few weeks’ work, was referred to by several speakers in congratulatory terms.
A hearty vote of thanks was accorded tho ladies of tho committee for their very valued services, Mrs Barton (treasurer) and Airs W. D. Johnston (secretary) being specially mentioned. A vote of thanks was also parsed to all who had helped, especially the friends living outside the Rangiora district, and to the public for its generous support,
