Nominations for • the position of synodsmen for the district of St Stephens will close at the Flaxton post > .offico on April 5, at 4 p.m. In consequence of the Culverderi ewe fair to-morrow, the Railway Department will run a special passenger train leaving Christchurch at 7-50 a.ln., reaching Culvei'den at 11.5. It will leave Culverden for Christchurch at 5.45 p.m. A meeting to consider the formation of an Association football club will be held in the fire brigade rooms, NewJ>ighton, to-morrow, at 8 p.m. Dr George Brown, the veteran missionary of the Pacific, -will deliver an address at 7.30 p.m. to-morrow at the Sydenham Methodist Church. The lecturer will speak on “The Pacific Islands, Their Needs and Their Possibilities.” , Owing to the death of Bishop Grimes, the social gathering which was to have l>een held in the Lyttelton Club HalJ , has been postponed till April 7
