PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPETITION, open to bona fide Residents of New Zealand, The Competition is being promoted with a view to encouraging Photograpliers of this country to secure Picture* depicting Landscapes, Seascapes, and the Natural Beauties and Wonders of New Zealand, and also any class of Picture Study of general interest. There will be four Classes as follows : CLASS I—Ntw Zealand Landscapes, including Pastoral and Agricultural, and Bush Scenes, and views of the Natural Wonders of the Dominion. CLASS ll—Naw Zealand Saaioapes, including Yachting, Boating and Shipping Scenes. CLASS lll—Figure Studies, European or Maori. ', \, . CLASS JV—General Collection of New Zealand Photographs. In this section a competitor must enter six Photo- . graphs, each dealing with a separate class. There will be no limit to the number of Photographs that may be entered, but at least six pictures must be entered in Class IV., General Collection. THE PRIZE-LIST. The Proprietors of the Canterbury Times reserve the right to publish any Photograoh sent in, and entries will be accepted only on this understanding. AH unaccepted Photographs wiil be returned, provided the necessary postage is enclosed. Entrants are requested to state their names and addresses fully and clearly with entry. Explanatory or descriptive matter must accompany each Picture for publication purposes, as it will add to the value, of the photograph. Photographs must be original, and must ' not have been previously published in any journal. The negative must be taken by an entrant, but the printing of the Photograph need not necessarily be his own work. The prints may be mounted, unmounted, contact or enlarged. The suitability of a Photograph for reproduction will be taken into consideration in awarding the prizes. Large views are preferable to small ones. Glossy Bromide paper is preferable for reproduction purposes. The decision of the Proprietors of the Canterbury Timet mood any question arising in connection with the Competition shall be accepted as final, and it is on this condition 6*nly that entries will be received.
