SUMMIT ROAD ASSOCIATION
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE.
The executive of the Summit Road Association met on Thursday; present —Messrs G. Harper (chairman), C. Bean, S. Hurst Seager, J. J. Thomson' and H. G. Ell, M.P. Mr Ell reported . that the new tearoom at Kennedy’s Bush was completed and suggested that it would be advisable to have an official opening at an early date. After discussion it was decided that the opening day should be fixed for Saturday, March 6, conditional on that date not being found to clash with any other function, in which event the president and secretary were empowered to fix another date. Mr Ell further reported with reference to the new tea room that it had been very comfortably and substantially furnished, thanks to the generosity of a number of gentlemen and firms,’ among whom he mentioned Messrs J. Ballantyne and Co., Beatti and Co., and Milner and Thompson, and Mr W. 'Whitworth. Cordial votes of thanks were passed to each of those named for their donations. It was reported that the road at tho approach to the house was now in process of being widened, and it was possible now for vehicles to be driven to within five minutes’ walk of the house.' There were four tents now erected on the reserve, all of which were on substantial frames with boarded floors, and were very comfortably furnished. Telephone communication was established with the caretaker’s cottage, and was being very largely availed of.
