HOUSE DESTROYED AT RIOCAR* \ TON- 5 - Shortly after three o’clock yesterday afternoon fire destroyed a five-roomed residence at 75, Picton Avenue, Riccarton, owned and occupied by Mr Fred* erick George Harris. Mr and Mrs Harris were away at the time.-A.daughter, aged about sixteen, was in the front portion of the building when she noticed that the washhouse, which ' had been in uso during the morning, was full of smoke. There is no fire brigade in the borougji, hut the neighbours assisted to save a portion of the furniture. The house was insured for £3OO in the Australian Alliance office, but tho furniture and also tools to the value of £SO, which- were destroyed, was not insured. ; . . •• t •
