ANNUAL COMPETITIONS.

The most successful night of the Canterbury Band of Hope Union’s contest was held on Thursday, when the Choral Hall was well filled by an enthusiastic and demonstrative audience. A mest interesting programme was provided, no fewer than ten different classes being competed for. The following are the prize-winners of the items heard on Wednesday:—

CONCLUSION OF COMPETITIONS. The competitions portion of the contest was concluded in tho Choral Hall last evening. There was a fair attendance, and AIT C. I). Gibson, one of tho vice-presidents, occupied tho chair. An interesting programme was gone through, including the Scripture reading, in which six competitors tonic part, the test piece being Isaiah, *lO, verses 12 to 16 and 21 to 31.
