VETERANS’ CLUB. Tho twenty-fifth annual meeting of the Veterans’ Cricket Club was held on Saturday evening. The president, Mr E. Cuthbert, was in the chair, and there was a good attendance. Tho balance-sheet, showed a credit balance of £1 16s 9d. The report stated that during the season 33 matches had been played, of which 20 had been won, 9 lost and 4 drawn. The average runs per innings totalled 174. The batting ana bowling averages were a great improvement on the previous season. During the season the team journeyed twice to Burnham and to Port Levy, Wood end, Tai Tapu, Lyttelton end suburbs. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Tho election of officers resulted as follows-President, Mr E. Cuthbert (re-elected); secretary and treasurer Mr T. A. Murphy (re-elected); captain. Mr A. M’Nae (re-elected); sub-captain, Mr C. Id. Bascand (re-elected); committee, Messrs ’W. A. Jewell, 0. H. Harris. H. Lawrence, F. Britt.au and C. H. Bridge and the captain; selection committee, Messrs T. A. Murphy, W. A. Jewell and tho captain. The club opened its season on Thursday afternoon with a club match. Sides were chosen by tho president and the secretary, the former’s side winning by 9 runs. There was a good attendance of members and ladles, and afternoon-tea was served. The president's side made 148 (Cook 26 retired, Brittnn 29 retired, Gwdsell 27, and Jewell, jum\, 11 retired). The secretary’s side replied with 139 (Prebblo 25 retired, Mansell 25 retired, Bascand 26 retired, A. -M’Nac 18. Barrett 17, 'Barrel! 13, and Mann 10)- _________
