SUNDAY PLEASURE.

W.C.T.U. CENSURES HOCKEY ASSOCIATION. [From Our Correspondent.] DUNEDIN; September 24. Tho executive of the Women's Christian Temperance Union has placed on record its grave disapproval of the action of the Otago Ladies' Hockey Association in arranging a Sunday excursion down the harbour for the English hockey team. The resolution deplores the increasing encroachment upon the sanctity of the Sabbath, and goes on, "We are convinced that the use of the day for organised pleasure parties will act disastrously upon those for whose benefit the weekly day of rest is most design ed." The resolution says that tho Union greatly regrets that a woman's society should have organised an excursion for Sunday, since women owe unspeakable advantages to the Christian Sabbath and should bo eager to keep it inviolate."
