NEW ZEALAND RUGBY UNION

[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, September 23. The New Zealand Rugby Union met this evening. The Waihi Union wrote with reference to the applications of \V. Castleton, S. Scott, and W. Sinclair ' for reinstatement, those players having allegedly played under Northern Union rules. It was decided to take no further action in regard to Scott and Sinclair, and to ask for further particulars concerning Castleton's case. The Wairarapa Union reported that W. Redmond had been disqualified for twelve months, from August 29, for refusing to play in a representative team, and also with “ not giving sufficient notice or satisfactory excuse.” Members considered that the Wairarapa Union was establishing a bad precedent. The player might have had ample reasons for not playing thatihe did not desire to make public. It was resolved to write to the Wairarapa Union asking for further particulars. ...
