The Frozen Meat Trade Association’s Smithfield market quotations for tho undermentioned classes of frozen meat are based on actual sales of not fewer than 100 carcases of mutton or lamb or twenty-fire carcases of beef of fair averago quality. To-date 49,332 bales have been catalogued, of which 46,565 have been sold. WHEAT. The wheat market is tending lower. Australian March shipment is offering at 35s 6d. The quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 2,839,000 quarters; for the Continent, j 1.865.000 quarters. Atlantic shipments, t 539,000 quarters; Pacific, nil: total from Europe, 1,430,000 quarters; Australasia, 33,000 quarters. j HIDES. ] The hides sales were very quiet, and • trade was depressed. The premium on them has been added to reserve. The dividend and bonus are payable in now shares. The Broken Hill Proprietary’s £600,000 in debentures is being issued at 97. BRITISH CROPS. Cheese.—The market is steady. Canadian is quiet, 63s to 645; New Zealand white, in good demand, 65s to 60s, coloured 63s to 64s 6d; English Cheddar, firm market, 70s to 745; Siberian, 52s to 565. Hemp.—The market is rather more active, especially for Manila, and there has been a slight rise in prices all rotund. Manila, fair current £26, forward shipment about the same. The output from Manila for the week was 16.000 bales. New Zealand,' good fair £25 10s, fair £23 10s, forward shipment about tho same prices.
