Letter mails close for the following places as under, subject to the necessary alterations:— Mails per express to Dunedin and south close dnily »t 7 a.m. and 11 a.m.; late fee, i.e.. letters bearing Id additional stamp. 11.15 a.m.; also mail van up to 8 a.m. and guard's van 11.55 a.m. train. Foi Australian States, etc. (due Sydney 9th June), India, China, Ceylon, Japan, Hong Kong, Straits Settlements, South Africa, Now Guinea, etc., also United Kingdom and Continent of Europe, etc (due London 12th July), via Naples, per Wahino, to connect wth Moeraki, at 6.16 p.m.; late fee letters, fi.45 p.m.: guard's van, 7.40 p.m. train. Money orders, 4 p.m.; registered articles, 4.45 p.m.; books, packets and newspapers, 6.45 p.m. POST OFFICE HOLIDAY, JUNE 3 (KING'S BIRTHDAY.) A close holiday will be observed at all Post Offices. The usual despatch of mails will be made up to 9 a.m, The Superintendent of Telegraphs advises that on King's Birthday (Juno 3) the thief telegraph office will open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and from 7 p.m. to midnight. The Telephone Exchange will bo open continuously. Mails which left London on Ist May, via Vancouv r, and Vancouver on 13th May, will arrive in Christchurch at 8 a.m. today.
