HOME FOR CONSUMPTIVES.

TO-DAY'S OPENING. To-day, when the visitors arrive at the new Coronation Home for advanced cases ot consumption, which is to be opened by the Minister of Pubhe Health, they will find it in full working order with eighteen inmates all comfortably installed m their new quarters. ' Monday was moving day for the consumptive* who lor so long have occupied tho old wooden ward at tho Christchurch Hospital. They will be in better and fresher surroundings on the hills, and close to the main institution for tho treatment of the loss advanced cases. Tho place they have vacated at the Hospital will be thoroughly fumigated, but it will'remain idle lor the rest of its life, as it is intended to pull tho old structure down as soon as accommodation is provided elsewhere for the dispensary and outpatient department. In the near future it is possible that the old building will be replaced by a new and more beautiful building, and it seems certain that part of it will be used tor the proposed ward for, chronic cases, foi which the ladies have collected a substantial sum. "Will tho inmates of the now Coronation Home look on themselves as incurable?" "Not at all," .said a gentleman who knows. "Dr Black-, more says thero is no such thing as an incurable caso, and that there have been some most astonishing results." The difference between the sanatorium proper and the home, will be that the ono will contain the distinctly curable cases, which require tho Spartan openair treatment, and the other will contain the advanced cases whoso wants are best met by comfortable hospital treatment." To-day's opening ceremony will commence at '2 p.m., so that visitors should leave Cathedral Square before, 1.30 p.m. Tho new home, which is officially styled tho King George V. Coronation Memorial Home, lies on tlm Cashmere Hills, handv to the Sanatorium. The order of procedure will he a prayor by Bi-hop Julius, a few introductory words by tho chairman of tho Board (Mr F. Horrcll), a speech by tho Mayor on behalf of tho contributors, a speech by Bishon Grimes, a speech by the Hon H. F. Wigram. an active worker in the interests of the Home, and a speech by Dr Blackmore, medical officer at the Sanatorium. The official ceremony will then be performed by tho Hon R. H.
