A NEW COMET.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —There is a little comet visible in the evening sky at present. On Sunday evening ft was between the stars Kappa Geminorum and Zeta Cancri, but it has a rather rapid motion owing to its nearness to the earth, and will have to be searched for'some distance to the south and east of that position. During the next week> it will pass through the constellation of Cancer and enter the western end of Hydra, keeping between the meridian of eight hours and nine hours of right ascension. Its light is rather overpowered by moonlight at present, but the comet is still visible in field-glasses and looks quite bright in a telescope. It was discovered a few weeks ago by a Russian astronomer, but until lately it has been too far north to be seen in this latitude.—l am, etc., THE WRITER OF ASTRONOMICAL NOTES. June 1.
