CHARGE OF CUTTING CHILD’S THROAT. [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, June 1.

In the Police Court William Tynan was charged. with the attempted murder of his daughter Evelyn, whom he waylaid when she was leaving school, cutting her throat with a razor. The prisoner sat through the proceedings unconcernedly, as having apparently only a spectator’s interest in the evidence, though occasionally ho displayed signs of nervous stress-' Detective M’Mahon stated that the prisoner, when arrested, expressed a desire to be hanged without delay. Mrs Tynan stated that her husband had threatened her previously with a razor, but she never heard him threaten her children. Her husband had been drinking to excess. Tynan, when asked to plead, remained silent, and was committed for trial.
