SATURDAY’S RESULTS

Tho grounds wore in far bettor order than was anticipated on Saturday for the continuation of the competition matches. Playing conditions, however, wore far from ideal, tho warm sunshine and tho heavy going making things decidedly sultry for players, hollowing arc the details : SENIOR GRADE.

ADDINGTON v. EAST BELT.

Addington and East Bolt tried conclusions at tho Polo Ground, where Addington wore successful by three goals, scored bv 1). Smith and Peters, to one, shot by Brown. In the first half Ea»t Belt had much the hotter of tho open work, their circle work spoiling many chances. In the second half Addington wore pressing most of tho spell, hut erratic shooting spoilt their total. Mr H. Hatch was referee.

SYDENHAM A. v. CHRISTCHURCH

Chief interest centred in the meeting of Sydenham A and Christchurch at the Polo Ground. In the first half Christchurch, playin,™ with plenty of dash, pressed Sydenham very hard, but poor shooting spoilt any chance of a score. Sydenham, from a smart piece of play by Throp arid Patrick, added the only goal in the first half. Playing with the sun behind them- in the second spell, Sydenham had all the best of the play, and Patrick, Throp and Holland (2) added goals in quick succession. Key, by some good individual play, was successful in netting one goal for Christchurch, the final score being Sydenham A 5 goals, Christchurch 1. Mr IT. Mugridge was referee. SYDENHAM B v OXFORD TERRACE At Sydenham Park Oxford Terrace defeated Sydenham B by two goals, scored by Cotter, to one, shot by Hutchings. Mr S. Hincksman was referee. SELWYN v. TE WHAKA. Sclwyn and Te Wliaka met at Sydenham Park, where, in an uninteresting game, Selwyn were successful by three goals, scored by Wrather, M’Lclland and Bell, to one, shot by Radcliffe. Te Wliaka had E. Green and P. Radcliffe of the ex-Lyttelton Club in tlio ranks, which greatly improved their forward line. Mr C. Bascand was referee. SECOND GRADE. The game between Te Wliaka and Bible Class, played at the Polo Ground, ended in a win for To Wliaka by two goals, shot liy .R. Maclcay and W. Mackny, to nil. Mr F. Turnpenny was referee. East Belt played a drawn game with St Luko’s at the Polo Ground, each side scoring two goals. For East Belt Armstrong and Lye shot successfully, and for St. Luke’s, Cameron and Clark scored. Mr G. Morgan was referee. At St Albans Park Christchurch wore beaten by Union Rowing Club, by six goals, scored by Beaton (3), Gibborn (2) and Adams, to two goals, both shot by Hewitt. Mr H. Luxton was referee. Addington tried conclusions with Cranford at St Albans park, where a drawn game resulted, neither side scoring. Mr T. Hughes was referee. The game, Woolston v. Sydenham B, played at Woolston, ended in a draw, each side scoring three goals. Cotton (2) and Newman scored for Woolston, and Woodfield (2) and Fitzsimmons for Sydenham. Mr C. Bishop was rcfCl’GG. At the Addington Reserve. Sydenham A played a drawn gamo with Selwyn, each side scoring two goals. For Sydenham, P. Clark shot both goals, and for Selwyn the scorers were Davis and Sharpe. ’ Mr G. Parrott was referee. ’ THIRD GRADE. . Technical College met Riccarton Guild at Ensor’s Road, where a drawn gamo took place, each team scoring two goals. Morris and Hooper scored goals for College and Harrison and Evans for the Guild. Mr R. Parton was referee. Playing at Ensor’s Road, Sydenham played a drawn game with Woolston, neither sido scoring. Mr F. Hughes was referee. Selwyn won their game against East Belt at Addington Reserve by four goals, shot by Morse (3) and Ellis, to two goals scored by Young and Hayman. Mr J. Woods was referee. Playing at the Polo Ground Addington won their gamo with Bible Class by a, goal, shot by Gaines, to nil. Mr R. Calvert was referee. Oxford Terrace had a bye. New Brighton defaulted to Cranford. ■ FOURTH GRADE. At Linwood Park East Belt were easily defeated by Cranford by nine goals, scored by Vincent (3), Franklin (2), Stuart (2), Small and Keand, to one goal shot by Hoffman. -Mr R. Henley was referee. Woolston defeated St Luke’s at Linwood Park by three goals, scored by James. Freeman and Bosher, to one goal, shot by Manson. Mr IT. Rodgers was referee. The game between Te Wliaka and Addington, played at the Polo Ground, resulted in a win for To Wliaka by five goals, shot by Stewart (2), Howan, Schenkol and Wilson, to one, scored by Burrows. Mr L. Blewett was' referee. At the Polo Ground Selwyn defeated Riccarton Guild by sixteen goals to nil. The scorers were Strachnn (o). Turnpenny (41, Hill (4), Evans (2) and Baldwin. Mr W. Don gall was referee. Bible Class had a bye. Technical College had a bye. FIFTH GRADE. Playing at St Albans Park, Oxford Terrace defeated Sydenham by two goals, shot by Jones and Smith, to one goal, scored by Teague. Mr H. N. Lucas was referee. Christchurch met Cranford at the Polo Ground, where the forriier won by five goals, scored by Townsend (4) and Grimmer, to nil. Mr R. Mann was referee. At the Addington Reserve Selwyn defeated Star by four goals, scored bv TV. Bell (3) and Hamilton, to three goals,'shot by Glasson (2) and Hannah. Mr P! Ryde was referee. Technical College had a bye. ASHBURTON ASSOCIATION. The Ashburton Hockey Sub-associa-tion propose to send a team to Christchurch on J une 3 to play a Canterbury representative team. The' meeting of Waimairi P. and Wharenui at tho Papanui Domain resulted in a win for Waimairi by threo goals, scored by Misses Chapman (2) and Coombor, to nil. Mr C. Horner was referee.
