What- was described by (he police as a particularly mean case of 'false pretences came before Mr Bartholomew, S.M., this morning, when a. young man named'William Gwyn.no was charged with having, by representing that ho worked in the “ Otago Daily Times” Office, obtained board to the value of £4. He _ was further charged with obtaining 10s from his landlord by saying that he was a. member of the Alhambra Football Club. Accused went out , every morning, pretending that lie was going to work. The Magistrate sent accused to gaol for live weeks.
