CAUGHEY’S RECORD. [Per Press Association.! WELLINGTON, May 12. In view of the decision of the Australasian Amateur Athletic Union in passing Caughey’s shot putting record at tho Palmerston meeting, the New Zealand Council has decided to take a veto by mail on the question of making the use of guard boards in shot putting and broad Jumping optional. On the motion of the chairman, it was decided to recommend Centres which gave open orders to draw up a list of reputablo firms and issue orders on them only. ' When tho vote of thanks to the officials of tho Council was passed, Mr Guise protested against it as unnecessary. There were members of the committee who had done no work, and should never liavo been on tho committee, and who would not be on it again if he had his way.
