THE POLITICAL FIGHT.

LIBERAL CAMPAIGN,

VIGOROUS OPERATIONS

The political address given by Mr G. W. Russell ? M.P., at Phillipstown on Thursday night was much discussed in the city yesterday, and many comments were passed upon it. It is possible that leaders of the Social Democratic Party in Christchurch will reply to Mr Russell soon.

Arrangements have beon made for speeches by Liberal members of Parliament in other parts of the dominion. On Monday, Mr G. Witty and Mr G. W. Forbes will speak at Kaiapoi in reply to tbe Hon F. M. B. Fisher’s speech there recently. Yesterday Mr Russell received a telegram stating that Mr W. D. S. MacDonald, member for the Bay of Plenty, spoke on Thursday night at Opotiki, and that Mr H. Atmorc, member for Nelson, would speak last uight at Wairoa, Hawke’s Bay, in reply to Mr Fisher, and that Mr T. M. Wilford, member for tho Ilutt, would speak last night at Masterton. It is probable also that speeches will be given soon in the North of Auckland district. Mr Russell has received a request from tho Liberal Association recently formed at Rotorua to deliver an ad dress there, and hopes to be able to accede to the request at an early date. OLD LIBERAL-LABOUR ORGANISATION. MEETING TO BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY. Mr 11. G. Ell, M.P., at the request of a number of members of the old Liberal-Labour Party, will call a meeting shortly to consider what steps should be taken to organise the party. It is felt by old members of thg party that a great deal was done by it in past years to bring about reforms and to confer marked benefits on the masses of the people, and thev feel that there should be some organisation which they could join, and which would continue the policy of tho past.
