WIFE’S LEG BROKEN. THREE DAYS WITHOUT A DOCTOR. [Per Press Association.) DANNEVIRKE, March 6. James Mills, a labourer who wanted to drink his Sunday beer on a Saturday night, was charged before tho Magistrate with assaulting his'wife with intent to do actual bodily harm on October 18 last. Accused went home intoxicated. His wife then went and brought his Sunday beer which on returning she hid. Accused feeling dry wanted a drink, but was refused. Ho resented this and pushed his wife, who fell and broke a' leg. She then crawled into the yard to get out of accused’s way and returned to tho house when her husband had gone to bed and sat in the kitchen until ho woke and lifted her into bed. She remained thero until Tuesday evening, when a neighbour called in a doctor and she was removed to the Hospital. Until then she did not know her leg was broken. The doctor said the woman might never recover from tho effects cf the injury. Tho accused pleaded guilty and was committed "to the Supremo Court for sentence.
