Since , the first indications of oil in the rotary bore of the Taranaki New j Zealand Oil Wells Limited, about-.ten J days ago, drilling has. been carried, j down to an oil seam 'similar to than; met with in No. o well. To-day a! powerful gas seam was penetrated at the bottom while drilling, and. the manager reports that he has hot. wit-, nessed a stronger outbreak in Moturoa ; fields: This outbreak commenced at: 4.30 and lasted till 7 p.m., when;the well was capped and the .flow of oUI diverted into the iron tank’s. ’ The gas j is now as strong as ever,'and-the .oil ■ is increasing.
