GEORGE LAURENSON.

TO THtt EDITOR. Sir, —Are we to understand that the people of the Lyttelton electorate are not going to lift' their little finger towards doing anything to raise a memorial to their late devoted member, who sacrificed his life for them and their needs? If they cannot afford to erect a memorial to him, why do they'not name the Diamond Harbour Settlement after him? He was undoubtedly , the cause of Lyttelton acquiring that beautiful resort, and what more fitting memorial than to do as 1 have suggested, viz., name it after a man the like of whom the Lyttelton electorate will never secure again as their representative in Parliament. This would undoubtedly have been done long ago by any other place, but 1 am afraid that after all Lyttelton has been truly named a “little town" in every sense of the word.—l am. etc., Y.M.A.
