INFANTILE PARALYSIS
EIGHT CASES IN THE CITY. Up to the present the spread of infantile paralysis has been kept in check so far as Christchurch and the districts within the authority of the North Canterbury Hospital Board are concerned. The presence of the disease in Christchurch was reported early last month, and precautions were taken at once to warn parents of the need for care - . , ' , . So far eight cases have been reported to the Hospital Board, and of those four are in the Hospital at present undergoing treatment. Seven cases reported were known from January, and one is of comparatively, recent date. | It is reported so far that in three cases progress towards recovery has been reported. Improvement in infantile paralysis is always slow and the authorities are hopeful that the trouble j has been largely checked.
