Dominion Meteorologist’s summary and forecast: —A low atmo3pherio prossure exists both to tho northward and to tho southward, tho two systems accounting for slight barometric gradients, and though a northerly galo is now reported at Kaikoura the winds generally are only moderate to strong. Unsettled and gloomy weather has spread. Present indicationa are for strong northerly winds, changing by west to southerly in from twenty-four hours to thirty-six hours, barometer falling in the meantime. Cloudy -and unsettled weather probable generally. Heavy rain may bo expected and some snow on tho higher levels in tho south. Mr F. L. Woolea’s forecast for Canterbury is as follows:—Moderate to strong easterly winds, /backing southerly later. A heavy general rainfall is indicated. Weather becoming colder.
