IMPROVEMENTS TO THE GREYMOUTH COURSE. ACCOMMODATION AT VICTORIA PARK TO BE EXTENDED. [From Odr Correspondent.] GREYMOUTH, January 13. As a result oi a visit of inspection to the Motu Racecourse, which at this time of the year presents a very picturesque appearance, tho committee of tho Grcymouth Jockey Club hes sanctioned certain improvements, which will ho undertaken at once. Tho chief work will bo tho erection of a new bridgo over the Omotu Creek, the existing structure having shown signs of decay which render it a menace to public safety. The committee has, thorclore, resolved to build a. new bridge of ironbark, at a cost of about £OOO. Another greatly needed alteration which tho committee has decided upon, and which owners, trainers and jockeys will greatly appreciate, relates to tho determination to improve tho curve on the racing track rear tho Omotu Bridge. This has always been regarded as a nasty turn, and only at last meeting a horse fell. Tho work will oonsist of reducing tho curve, the track being altered fsr about a furlong, and the track will also bo banked up. The Grcymouth Trotting Club also intends to make substantial improvements to Victoria Park by extending the saddling paddock and improving the grand-stand. A meeting of the committee of the Metliven Racing Club was held on Friday, Mr C. A. Cuff presiding. Tho stakes and accounts for tho recent mooting were passed for payment, and tho bainnce-shcet showed a small amount to tho oredit of tho club.
