MOUNT HERBERT. Tli© Mount Herbert County Council met on Monday; present—Messrs Orton Bradley (chairman), A. R. Fleming, H. Field, L. M. Wilson, Q. C. Manson, J. Hunter, J. E. Davenport and Robert Allan. _ , The Mayor of Lyttelton wrote asking for a donation from the Council towards the funds of tko Sailors Home. The letter was received. Mr l-larold Gardiner, Purau, wrote in regard to straightening the creek running through the Council’s land, stating that he had no objection to the proposed improvements. Tho annual balance-sheet was received from tho Auditor-General, certified as correct. A committee was appointed consisting of Messrs Bradley, Field and Davenport to inquire into the financial position of the two ridings. Mr Field was appointed to arrnngo the lease of the reserve at Port Levy and Mr Wilson was appointed to interview Mr F. R. H. Gardiner and select a site for the workmen’s hut. The question of erecting a pound in the county was allowed to stand over. Accounts amounting to £132 4s Gd were passed for payment.
