HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

ASHBURTON. The monthly meeting of tho Ashburton Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held yesterday t when Mr H. Davis presided, t The chairman reported that the Hospital and Grounds Committee had selected a site for the nurses' home. During April two cases of tuberculosis were reported, one of which was stated to be a fit case for treatment- at the Pleasant Valley Sanatorium. The medr r " cal superintendent reported that on March 31 there wore thirteen males and seven females in tho'Hospital.. .During April six males and three females were admitted, and six males and seven females had been, discharged, leaving nine males and : three females in the institution on April 30. The Health In 4 spector reported, that he had inspected sixteen whares occupied by old men, and found no'cause for complaint as to the sanitary conditions. It was reported that the ambulance had been shipped .from London by the e.s. Ruahme. The Ashburton County Racing Club was the use of the ambulance .carriage for its autumn meeting. Dr Hunter wrote accepting the appointment of surgeon; and Dr G. Lyon wrote accepting the position of junior surgeon. Th« hospital paddock was leased _to Mr C; W. Lee tor one year at a rental of £7 10s. Mrs Rudolf Friedlander wrotej stating that she was willing to accept the position of lady visitor for the ensuing term. The estimate of receipts and expenditure for the year ending March '3l; 1913, as prepared by th<3 clerk, was adopted, and a resolution was carried declaring that the sum of £4531 6s 4d should be collected from the contributing local authorities for the year ending March 31, 1913. The capital expenditure was set down at £3528 10s, and hospital and charitable aid at £IOO2 16s 4d. making the total £4531 16s 4d. Mr George Calder was appointed clerk" of works at a salary of £3 oer week in connection with the addition to the hospital. Accounts amounting to £261 10s 4d were passed for payment.
