Another link with the old bushranging days has snapped by the death of Mrs Lewis, whose house, near Bathurst. was stuck up by Ben Hall's gang and three horses were stolen. PRICE OF BREADSTUFFS.

The wheat market continues to harden and sales are reported at 4s 5d to 4s s}<l per bushel for prompt, nnd 4s 5Jd to 4s 6d for forward delivery. An early advance in the price of bread is anticipated. The price of bran, has been raised to £6 15s and that of pollard to £7 5s per ton. SYDNEY, May 5.

The price of tho two-pound loaf will be increased to 3}d cash and 3Jd booked from to-morrow. HOSPITAL SATURDAY.

Inquiries have been made by the White Star Company as to the berthing accommodation at the port for a steamer of the length of 675 ft, with a draught of 35ft, which the company is building for tho Australian trade. Tho company has been informed that there is ample water for such steamers, and that the Harbour Board is- building a 1000 ft pier for mammoth liners. The pier is well in hand.
