The Mararoa will leave for Wellington tonight. 37ie Wairuna is due here to-morrow to load produce for Melbourne. The Kittawa is expected here to-morrow with a cargo of timber from Greymouth. Mr Parke, assistant purser on the Maun, ganui, has been promoted to the position . of purser on the Arahura. From all accounts the dock at Port Chalmers will be kept very busy this month. Amongst the vessels listed for docking are "the Wairuna, Koromiko, Karori, Monowai, Moeraki, Warrimoo and a number of others as opportunity permits. The Federal-Houl-der-Shire steamer Surrey is to go into dock at the southern port this week for cleaning and painting, prior to taking up tie Homeward loading berth. . The schooner Joseph Sims, recently purchased by \Mr E. Edwards, of Launceston, is to load timber at Hokianga for Melbourne before proceeding to Tasmania. The sohooner . is now practically ready for sea and should sail shortly. Loading operations were not completed on board the Echo on Saturday, and in conseXjuencejher departure for Blenheim was poßt- ' poned until to-day. For the -ast three weeks vessels arriving from Australia have reported boisterous ..weather with high seas in the Tasman Sea, and the Union Company's collier Waihora, 'which reached Lyttelton on Saturday afternoon, experienced more than her share of bad weather. Leaving Newcastle at 6 p.m. on Friday. April 26, the little vessel headed ~ into a moderate gale with heavy sea, but by midday on Saturday, April 27, the fury increased in strength to a howling south-south-west gale, and a fair amount of water was shipped both fore and aft. At 1.25 p.m. the same day the Waihora passed • a German barque, closely hauled! on the starboard tack, loaded, and bound south. Throughout Sun, day there was not much improvement in the weather, and at 1.45 p.m. on Monday, April 89, it was deemed advisable to heave the ves»el to on account of the high sea running. In this position the collier remained until 8.50 a.m. on Wednesday last, forty-one hours having been lost by the bad! weather. 'From this out there was a little improvement in the conditions, and as the New Zealand coast was nearedfthe sea became much calmer. At midday on Friday Stephen's Island was •beam, and at 8.44 p.m. the Waihora passed Cape Campbell, arriving at Lyttelton shortly after midday; The Waihora, has about 6500 tons of coal on board, all of which is to W put out at Lyttelton. During the' journey her officers kept a sharp lookout for signs of the overduo dredge Manchester, but nothing was teen of her. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company's liner Pokeha, at present discharging Home cargo at Dunedin, is due at Lyttelton on Wednesday next. After completion of discharge at this port the vessel will proceed .to Picton, where she is due on May 13. Two days later she will call at Wellington, sub'sequently proceeding to Napier on May 19. Cable advice has been received stating that the Federal-Houlder-Shire steamer Nairnshire : left Cape Town on Thursday last in confirmation of her voyage from Liverpool to Melbourne, Svdney, Auckland, Wellington. After loading a, quantity of Homo cargo, the New Zealand Shipping Company's Rimutaka left Lyttelton on Saturday afternoon for Wellington, where sho will take in coal prior to proceeding to Waitara, Napier, Tokomaru Bay and Auckland. The Defender left Hokitika early on Saturday morning with a cargo of timber for here, and should arrive to-day. Mr G. Watt, fifth engineer of the Navua, has joined the Rosamond as third engineer, in placo of Mr T. P. Scanlon. Mr D. J. Bums has ,taken Mr Watt's place on the Navua.

She experienced a severe buffeting, especially in the vicinity of Cape Palliser, where she was hove-to for some time. Being unable to moke Wellington, she was obliged to turn back to Napier. Her propeller worked loose, and the steamer was slipped here to remedy the defect. She will resume her voyage to-morrow.
