MINISTER OF PUBLIC WORKS, j [Per Pkess Association.] NELSON, May 3. ' j The Hon W. D. S. Macdonald, Mini[ster of Public Works, who is visiting 'this district, returned from Murchison this evening. The Minister inspected the railways works at Glenhope, and having seen' the extent of valuable land in the vicinity of Murchison, is impressed with tho necessity for pushing on with the construction of the railway in that direction. To-morrow he will receive a deputation of citizens on local matters, and on Monday he.will proceed' overland to Blenheim and Picton.

.VISITORS TO THE WAIRARAPA. [Per Press Association.] MASTERTON, May 3. Tho Hon J. A. Hanan, Minister of Education, and the Hon Te Rangihiroa were motored round the district to-day, accompanied by the Mayor and Mr G. Sykes, M.P. They virited the Hospital, and motored to an outlying district and inspected various schools. Mr Hanan was greatly pleased with the school gardens at the Gladstone School, saying that they were the finest he had seen. The Ministers were pleased with the country. They left for Wellington this afternoon.
