THE HOBBLE SKIRT.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I notice by your correspondence columns that Chmtchtiroh is suffering one of its periodic epidemics of false modesty, this time over hobble skirts. Surf-bathing and tepid baths costumes have, I presume, “outlived their usefulness” as shocking examples of impropriety. Now, have wo not heard enough of these depressing groans from such as your correspondents “ Disgusted ” and “B. Decent ”? “Disgusted” quotes Isaiah and “ B. Decent ” pons a vulgarly abusive letter condemning the fair wearers of tho artistically designed hobble ~skirt. This latter letter is drserving of contempt, while, if “Disgusted” has evor fully read Isaiah’s writings, his tender feelings must have been severely jarred when the sight of a hobble skirt is so painful to mm. Tho beautiful effect produced by ti’s form of dress is most pleasing to any lover of grace and symmetry. Such letters as those of “Disgusted” and “ B. Decent” would amuse some people if they appeared less frequently in your columns. As. it is thev are a bore. — I am, etc., ANTI-HUMBUG.
