CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. The committee of the Canterbury Crioket Association met last evening; present—Messrs A, Cant (in the chair;, E. Wilhteed, E. Caygill, J. Reid, R. B. Ward, O. A. M’Coy and F. L. Murray (honorary secretary). • Mr J. Reid stated that the deputation appointed to meet Colonel Hawkins, with regard to Saturday afternoon parades ior Territorials, had done so, and had obtained a satisfactory interview, in which Colonel Hawkins had expressed .his intention of preventing the parades from clashing with sport as far as was in his power. A letter from tho secretary of the New Zealand- Council stated that a cable message had been received from the Australian Board of Control stating that it would be impossible for the English cricket team to visit New Zealand. The Council was in cbmmunicatij.on with the .Tasmanian Cricket Association with a view to arranging if possible for a tcaim from Tasmania to Visit New Zealand during the coming Season. ■-It was decided that the secretary of ilie Association should interview the secretary of the Council with regard to the visit of tho Tasmanian team, x The report and balance-sheet, to be presented* at the annual meeting of the Association, were approved. Tho annual meeting will be held on September 13. , ' ‘i - ST ALBANS CLUB. The annual meeting of the St Albans Cricket Club was held in the Merivalo Schoolroom on Wednesday evening, Mr F. C. Raphael, president of the club, presiding. The annual report stated that the club’s teams had been very successful, having wpn the First and Fourth Grade competitions, but that there had been a decrease in the membership, making it difficult at times to keep the teams up to full strength. It was anticipated, however, that there would be a considerable accession of new members for the coming season.. The balance-sheet showed that in spite of the reduced membership and a consequent fallingoff of about £45 in the revenue, there wa3 a small profit on the season’s working, and a credit balance of £2 10s 5d remained. SYDENHAAI CLUB. ; The annual meeting of the Sydenham Cricket Club was held last evening. ■ The* annual report showed that the number of playing members during the year was 90, while the number of honorary members was 21. The sixth annual meeting of the Riccarton Cricket Club was held last night, Air F. Al. Warren presiding over a fair attendance. Tho annual report showed that while the club’s, teams had been unsuccessful in winning any of the competitions during the past season they had all finished high up in their respective grades. A pleasing feature had been the general all-round improvement of the younger members of the club. The club was not in so good, a financial position as it had been during the previous year, blit it was anticipated that the deficit would be reduced during the coming season. It was announced that a Riccarton resident, who wished to remain anonymous, had made'a donation of £6 6s, and had. stated his intention of making his donation an annual one. Air J.- B. Brinsden, who had taken up his residence in Wellington, was elected an honorary life member of the club. Eight new members were elected. The Waddington Cricket Club held a meeting on Tuesday night, Air Pole, vice-president, in tho chair. Eighteen handed in their names as members, for the ensuing season, and it was decided to start practising on Thursday afternoon.l The following officers were elected :—President, Air F.
