DUNEDIN NOTES.

[From Our Oorrestondent.] DUNEDIN, September 6. The fruit market is pcorlv supplied just now, and prices are high. In tho wholesale market to-day a shipment of oranges, apples, lemons and pines met with prompt sale at almost record prices. Navel oranges realised up to Iss per case, or something like lid each, and ordinary oranges brought up to 13s Id per case. Lemons sold at 10s per case (150 to the case), and apples fetched up to 10s 6d per bushel, or a little over 3d pier lb. Pines averaged about 7Jd each.' Air H. D. Bedford intends to take the resignation of Air Fowlds as tho text of a lecture lie will deliver shortly, liis subject being, “ New Zealand politics. A glance into tho future.” It is now practically certain that the predicted scarcity of cattle will not corao about. There was another large yarding, an over-supply, in fact, at £lie Burnside sales to-day, and there seems to bo no’ reason why there should not be full yarejings for some weeks to come. Of course, there will ho the usual temporary scarcity at the time when tho cattle go from turnips to tho grass, but that will not occur until the end of October.
