! Thirteen thousand pounds was once spoilt in overhauling .the drains of the British House of Parliament. But still the members were inconvenienced ; bv tho unpleasant atmosphere that pervaded the House. It was quite by 1 chance that the cause of the trouble was located : a careless scullion was in the habit of throwing her cabbage i water into ail open sewer under a wing ] of tho lobby !
