PIGEON-FLYING.
The Christchurch Homing Pigeon Society recently flew off its second East Capo tace. Twenty b.rds were sent, eight owners competing. T : hcy were liberated by the chief officer'of the Taraweni a. 7.30 a.m. on January 15 in a strong southerly wind, which made it impossible for the birds to recoil heme on dav of liberation. The race v.-as open for ih-ee days. Mr E. Rowe's Ludy Noiroa- timed in'on'the following morning, putting up the fus'.es*. time thit h-.is ever been flown to Clu-isichurch. and winning first and special prizes. The fo.lowing is tnc result, after deducting eight hours for darkness:—E. Rowe's Lady Norma, time lShr 5-lmm 56?ec, distance 523 miles 1263yds, velocity 812yda per minute; A Gerard's Idris. 31hr 20mm 5-isec, velocity 488yds per minute; F.
