AN ISLAND CASE.
[Per Press Association - .] AUCKLAND, January 25,
A Court of Inquiry at Tonga dismissed a charge against A. D. Cameron, president of a Co-operative Association, with 3000 Tongan members, formed for the disposal of copra. It was alleged that Cameron had issued a faked balance sheet and had embeszled the funds. The Court expressed tho opinion that the alleged irregularity did not affect the total of the balance sheet, though the statement of one item was obscure. A person to whom there was a liability of £1598 for copra in transit characterised tho ovidenco on which tho case for tho prosecution largely rested as showing prejudico and animosity against the accused. The Court expressed a strong opinion against the manner in which tho charges of embezzlement had been brought.
